Coveted Alaia Burgundy Studded sandals

Love for Alaia Shoes

I have a weakness for shoes and I make no secret of that. Strange as it may sound, more often than not I chose my outfits starting from the shoes I feel like wearing that day.  There are a few I wish I would wear more often, other pairs I have worn to exhaustion, and then some are on my coveted items list: the Alaia shoes.

Almost certainly there is no need for me to tell you who Azzedine Alaïa is. Well known for his distinctive designs, which exude luxury in the subtlest manner achievable in the haute fashion world, Alaïa himself remains as discreet as his creations. Nevertheless, he didn’t shy away from creating a controversy when he metaphorically slapped Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour in their fashionable faces a few years ago. However, you know how geniuses are; they have a mind of their own and rarely befriend one another.

Moving on from the brief introductory story, the truth remains that Alaia shoes are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. They are superbly elegant, yet edgy. Their intricate design and feminine silhouette, alongside the label’s signature laser-cut technique grant them the undeniable title of statement heels. You may have seen and admired them quite a few times in Jardin de Tuileries during Paris Fashion Week, and may have been disenchanted to see that their inconspicuously colored soles do not reveal their provenance.

Alaia shoes are the kind of heels that when worn, make you feel like a princess – walking through the halls of an Oriental palace in a far away land, or strolling down Avenue Montaigne in search for the perfect dress to match them – it’s your choice, after all it is your dream…

These are a few of my favorite styles from this season. Where would you wear them both in your dreams and in real life?
